Jan Hoy - Complex Simplicity
Hoy creates abstract sculptural forms of striking simplicity and austere elegance, finding the perfect balance between positive and negative space. Her unadorned shapes are, in the artist’s words, “a three-dimensional answer to a question.” The concept and construction are arrived at through a prolonged contemplation of space and structure.
SJIMA - Fall 2025
This past fall I had the good fortune to work with Wendy Smith at the San Juan Island Museum of Art. From her exhibition planning to her designing the North Gallery space Wendy brought taste, timeliness, professionalism and her own warmth to the process. Wendy made my experience as a featured artist both memorable and a joy.”
