Lauren Boilini
Celestial Navigation, 2026
Wendy is a fastidious and detail-oriented arts administrator. She is a thoughtful communicator whose wheels are always turning. After working with her on my first solo museum exhibition at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art over the course of several months I appreciate how much she was able to hold in her head throughout that time. The museum itself is essentially a two-person team, assisted by a variety of passionate volunteers. Wendy was able to keep an impressive number of balls in the air, while making everyone around her feel seen and appreciated. As a painter, nothing matters to me more than knowing what I have worked on is being taken in and valued. It was clear that Wendy would leave no stone unturned - I could see her thinking through each detail in the exhibition, and I was glad to see the Executive Director defer to her vision at every turn. I was charmed by their collaboration and the lack of ego necessary to run such a small but mighty organization.
Wendy took every little moment seriously and articulated all of her opinions. It was a delight to watch her visualize and verbalize each decision, from the height of each painting to every sight line. I sincerely hope my next experience is as positive and considered.
